Management

Marketing Management Degree Programs

How does one market a given product or service most effectively? How does one best manage marketing activities and resources? These are the questions that can be answered with greatest accuracy by those adept at marketing management. Marketing management is a field that requires a variety of complex skills. To be successful in marketing management, you need to have a good understanding of how businesses run, of how to work with people and money, and also to have a good instinct about what consumers are looking for and how best to get their attention. It is not as simple as it may seem. Take the example of Proctor & Gamble. The manufacturing giant is huge not only because it makes soap that people like to use. The success is based on something more--a keen skill at marketing management. Proctor & Gamble observed that people like to have choices when shopping for a product like laundry detergent. What the company decided to do was to provide those choices, all from within one company. So, while it may feel like you have a variety of choices in the supermarket detergent aisle, if you read the fine print you may discover that many of the competitors aren't competitors at all. They are different Proctor & Gamble brands. Whether you buy Brand X or Brand Y, your business is still going to Proctor & Gamble. This is marketing management at work, on a very large scale. This is only one example of how marketing management can help shape the world in which we, as consumers, live. In today's academic landscape, flexibility is key. The hectic lifestyle of the modern student requires highly personalized options and choices. Luckily, you now have myriad options available – you can seek a degree completely online, take classes at your local campus, or develop a combination of both online and offline study. The pursuit of higher education has never been easier, and the vast majority of schools offering online degree programs also offer a complementary Campus Program, or a hybrid program designed to perfectly match your needs. Whatever your course of study, we can help you find the most ustomized solution to fit your busy schedule. Find the program that best suits your individual tastes, and be on your way to a degree sooner rather than later.

Organizational Management Degree Programs

Organizational management is a crucial piece of making any business run smoothly, no matter how large or small. Those adept at organizational management can take a floundering company and help turn it around into a profit-generating growth machine. This is why business schools are focusing more and more on organization skills in their curricula. A simple classroom exercise gives a valuable lesson in organizational management. In the exercise, students are asked to imagine that they are astronauts who have crashed on the dark side of the moon. They have a two day trek to make to the light side of the moon where they will be rescued. Students are given a list of supplies to bring and asked to prioritize the list, from most important to least important. The list includes things like an oxygen tank, water, and a book of matches. After the students have completed their list, the classroom is divided up into small groups. Here is where the organizational management comes in. Each group of students is expected to work together to prioritize the moon objects list. Students debate and cajole and arrive at a consensus.

Management Degree Programs

Management is a key career for those who like to accept responsibility. Taking a business or a part of company and producing a desired result is the basis of management. Management differs from leadership because leadership focuses on more than achieving a particular goal of business. Leadership seeks to motivate and have knowledge of the culture they are working with. Management is more structured towards the function of business. While there are some human resources practices involved in management, a bulk of education in the field will deal with accounting, finance and economics. Degrees in management are available both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Typically a minimum of a bachelor's degree is a requirement in order to gain experience in the business field. Bachelor's degrees do not have to be in management, they can be in fields of business administration or international business. Some coursework at the undergraduate level can offer some insight to management training or work. Once a business professional has earned some experience in the field, graduate degrees are available. MBA, or Master's of Business Administration brings management into focus and helps business professionals get the necessary tools to begin advancing in their careers.
