LEAGUE Foundation—Academic Scholarships
The LEAGUE Foundation is granting scholarships to traditionally unrepresented students. The scholarships are designed to supplement a student’s costs of tuition, books and other college fees. These awards are only presented to those whom identify themselves as a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender person. Because applicants may not have informed family members and friends about their sexual orientation, every effort will be made to protect the privacy of those students whom apply for the LEAGUE award.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the LEAGUE Foundation scholarship, a student must:
• Be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident
• Identify himself/herself as a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender person.
• Currently be a high school senior applying to a full-time college or university
• Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
How Much Money Can I Receive?
The scholarship will grant at least $1,500.
How to Apply?
To apply for the LEAGUE Foundation scholarship a student must submit an application, three letters of recommendation by sponsors that are aware of your skills and abilities, a copy of your high-school transcript, and copy of the acceptance letter from the college or university. In addition, two essays should be submitted. One essay should focus on the applicants academic goals and plans for community service, and the other essay should address the personal impact sexual orientation has on a person’s life.
