EL PASO, TX - The University of Texas at El Paso has been named in an ongoing investigation regarding a college loan company accused of providing perks for university officials in return for more student traffic.  UTEP is one of two schools named in Senator Ted Kennedy's report on marketing practices in the federal loan program. It states that San Diego-based College Loan Corporation might have received preferential treatment when it saw over 90 UTEP students in one week. The company has been ordered to pay a $500,000 fine.
