Young Scientists Impress at Contest, Win Big By Michael Naughton boston.com
As most of their schoolmates were enjoying the break on a long weekend, 16 high school students spent the time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology unveiling their solutions to problems ranging from E. coli poisoning to insufficient bone growth. The students, most under the age of 18, impressed not only the organizers of the Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology, but also professors from MIT, Harvard, and Boston universities who judged the competition. "The projects are of really, really phenomenal quality," said Dr. Mya Poe, MIT's director of technical communication and the competition's head judge. "The students also have quite a bit of depth and knowledge." |
